Great-- will definitely try to work it in-- thanks!
Hi Marisa,
In my experience as a Regional Manager for AuPairCare, a live-in childcare provider is a win-win for the family as well as the childcare person. Host parents have the flexibility of a more relaxed schedule and do not have the panic of racing to the daycare center to pick up their children. Parents also interview and select the au pair vs. accepting whoever the daycare center employs. The children benefit from living with a person who truly cares about them and their development. In my particular program there is the added benefit of a young person sharing her culture with the family. In today's global world the norm is to be familiar with the world community as a whole. There are many options for live-in childcare and each family makes their own decision based on individual criteria. The au pair program is certainly a viable option and quite affordable. The fees do not change with additional children and works out to about $320 per week for 45 hours of childcare. Clearly my bias is toward the au pair program but I am a strong advocate for live-in childcare in general as I truly believe it's the best option for quality childcare.

Warm Regards,
Carol
It is a great option and will surely come up. I wish there were a solution like this though for cityfolk who do not have the space for a live in!
